„Illusions That May” by Eden O'Neill
BLURB
Some stars fall. Others... disappear.
My sister is gone and no one seems to really give a sh*t about that but me. Everyone's made things about them, her memory only that and I'm left to sort through all my own pieces. I'm alone in all this and the dangerous boy with the green eyes ultimately leaves me too. I didn't know him like I thought I did. If I had...
I would have run sooner.
Warning: This enemies-to-lovers, high school romance contains some dark themes and light bullying. The book is not a standalone and is book two in a four-part series of full-length novels. Royal Prinze is the only hero of this tale... good luck getting him to share.!
MY OPINION
“Illusions That May” starts immediately after the events of the previous book. I picked up the second installment of the “Court High” series right after finishing the first one, so I was completely in the reading flow.
Right now, December’s situation is much more complicated than I ever thought it could be.
Because even your lovers and friends can become your enemies. There is no loyalty between the characters in this story — everyone is alone. Well… maybe except for one small dog who stays by December’s side.
Eden O’Neill has written a very engaging series. I finished the first book, picked up the second one, and (no shit, Sherlock) I’ve just done exactly the same thing again. Book number three is already on my Kindle, waiting patiently to be read — because right now I’m here, writing this review.
This book raises more questions than it answers. I need the next one for those answers. While reading, I often felt sad for December. She’s trying to figure everything out in her life, but it’s far from simple. Her world is a complete mess, and it doesn’t look like things will get any better in the next book.
“Illusions That May” is a solid second installment in the series. I’m very curious about what happens next. So now I’m diving into “Court Kept,” and I highly recommend that you give the “Court High” series a try. It’s worth it!
