„Twisted Pawn” by L.J. Shen
BLURB
Tierney
There’s a bullet with my name on it.
And Achilles Ferrante is the man who’ll pull the trigger.
I’d always known one of us would kill the other. I’d just hoped to do the honor.
Twice I betrayed him.
First, I broke his heart. Then, I sold him out to the Feds.
Even if I hadn’t, I doubt he could spell mercy, much less spare me any.
The Camorra prince promised he’d make a spectacle of my death when he caught me. Let him try.
He could chase me until the end of Earth.
I will always run faster.
Achilles
To love is to destroy, and I’d loved Tierney Callaghan far too long, and far too much.
She’s a fatal weakness, but unlike the Greek mythology warrior—I will remain undefeated.
My little flame can run fast, but my bullet is faster.
Once upon a time, she was the only person who saw my humanity.
She’s about to meet the monster everyone else is scared of.
MY OPINION
Leigh… what kind of magic were you on when you wrote this book?
“Twisted Pawn” is even better than “Bad Bishop” — and “Bad Bishop” was a 10/10 for me.
How is that even possible?
I had been waiting for Achilles and Tierney’s story. They completely caught my attention in “Bad Bishop” because I knew right away that they were something different. The wait was worth it… but also painful AF.
Tierney is a strong, badass heroine. She knows how to fight and how to survive in a mafia world. She’s been through real hell in her life. But through all of it, her one light was always Achilles. He was everything to her, and she knew she would do anything for him. Even die.
Achilles is a cocky, control-obsessed, ridiculously sexy bastard. I love the way he’s written. The scars on his face (my weakness), the motorbike, the height… yeah. My type.
Leigh, do you have another one like him? Pretty please?
In “Twisted Pawn”, you get everything you want from a great book — revenge, love, blood, spice, and chemistry that practically bleeds off every page. It’s all perfectly balanced, and every chapter gives you something that keeps you hooked until the very end.
For real — this book is unputdownable.
Almost five hundred pages of pure pleasure. I’ve loved Tierney and Achilles since the beginning of the “Society of Villains” series, but now? I’m completely obsessed.
But the real question is… can the next book be even better than “Twisted Pawn”?
Because I need “Fallen Rook” ASAP.
So what can I tell you about “Twisted Pawn”?
Put it on your TBR.
And when it releases — start reading.
Immediately.
(But first, read “Bad Bishop”.)
