„Write me for you” by Tillie Cole
BLURB
Seventeen-year-old June Scott has always dreamt of becoming a novelist. To write the greatest love story ever told. One that would fill hearts and souls with happiness and joy.
However, June has never been in love and when she receives some devastating news, there doesn’t feel as if there’s much time left for her own beautiful love story.
That’s until she meets Jesse Taylor who treats every day as if it could be his last. Which could be true. For them both.
Together their worlds light up and a love so strong grows between them.
With days slipping away like sand in an hourglass June begins to write their love story. June is determined to give the boy she loves the story of them. And the world a reminder of who they might have been if their stars were written differently.
Because even when your heartbeat stops, a true love story never dies.
MY OPINION
Tillie Cole, I hate you and love you at the same time.
This book shattered my heart, and I’m still trying to glue the pieces back together.
I knew this story would be heavy and painful, but I had no idea it would hurt this much.
And yet… I loved it. Even when it was heartbreaking, even when I was sobbing, even when something in the book mirrored my own family experience.
Tillie, you wrote in your acknowledgments that these YA books are healing for you.
Not only for you, girl.
Not only for you.
When 17-year-old June hears that her treatment isn’t working and she’s slowly dying, she accepts the news without hesitation. But a few days later, she learns she can join a new experimental program at Harmony Ranch.
There, she meets seven other teens also fighting cancer. Together, they push each other forward, drink those disgusting vitamin shakes, and refuse to give up.
During this trial treatment, June meets Jesse — a guy who also knows what it means to live with illness. They begin to support each other, and day by day they grow closer. Eventually, they realize they’re in love. Deeply. Fully. And they want to hold on to that feeling for as long as life allows.
Their love is unconditional, pure, and painfully real. They want to stay together in sickness and in health, in life and in death. They’re like an old married couple — just without the marriage part at first. Every line, whether filled with joy or pain, hits you straight in the heart. Roughly. Honestly.
By the end, you’re crying — but you also feel cleansed, lighter, and strangely happy.
„Write Me For You” is a must-read if you're searching for a love story that’s true in both joy and grief. If you’re not afraid to cry. If you want to feel everything. And if you have a little space left in your heart for Jesse and June.
Why am I saying this? Because „A Thousand Boy Kisses” has lived rent-free in my heart since 2016.
„Write Me For You” is officially one of my must-reads of 2025.
You need to meet June and Jesse and hear their story.
