OPINION
“Bad Bishop” is a first book in a big series of
“Society of Villains” which will have three books inside! But with standalones seven in total! Finally! I love that L.J. Shen is coming back to writing a long
series!
“Bad Bishop” is an art of book! For real!
Lila
is a sweet, innocent girl who lost all of it in one day. Teenage
pregnancy wasn’t on her bucket list, but her father decided, that
she will keep this baby according to Catholic religion and Camorra
traditions. You know, the mafia boss who killed hundreds of people
decided to keep baby from the sexual assault (I had a problem with
that one at the beginning).
But he also said that they need to
cover that baby won’t have a father, so the lucky winner to be
marry was Tiernan Callaghan, the most arrogant, bloody and psychopath
man on this world.
Callaghan took this wedding as financial
transaction. He needed Camorra’s help, so this was a tied-in
transaction. He will help them, and they will help him.
They
relationship wasn’t easy, because Lila was too sweet, too quiet for
him. They are from totally opposite worlds, but their marriage needs
to proceed.
But everything has a cost.
“Bad Bishop”
jumped on my list “Best of 2025”. L.J. Shen bought me with her
book from the beginning. But when I was going deeper and deeper to
this story, I was making a loud sounds “WHAT?” almost every five
chapters. Here we have a lot of plot twists, a lot of surprises and a
lot of secrets.
Lila! Ok, from the beginning I had a distance
to her. She was too sweet. Like a Barbie. But when I understood the
reasons, why she is like that, I liked her. Across all the story Lila
is growing up and undergoing great changes.
Tiernan… this
guy. He is like a living Death. Killing everyone without problems.
Taking what he wants. He is pushing Lila to her limits to check her
reactions. He perfectly fits to Lila and OMG… I love them both.
They are such a good written heroes!
“Bad Bishop” is a
book I highly recommend reading! If you want to refresh a GOOD mafia
romance with strong heroes inside this story is for you. I am in love
and I can’t wait for the next book. Even when that one isn’t already
released. Gimme, gimme! The Queen finally came back to us to the dark
side!
