BLURB
His eyes have the power to undo all the hurt caused by my family.
“Don’t let them see you cry.”
After months of refusing I finally agree to move to America, where my fiancé’s waiting for me.
Just like my mother, an arranged marriage lies in my near future.
Just like my mother, I’m probably going to be shoved aside in a couple of years after providing the Cutler family with an heir.
Being a Korean girl from a culture that’s very different from the west, it makes me stand out like a sore thumb. There’s nothing I can do but to accept the fate arranged by my father and his mistress. My marriage to Lake Cutler will be a business deal and nothing else.
My plan is simple.
Make him hate me enough to break off the engagement, so I can return to Korea.
But I didn’t account for those caring brown eyes.
What started as a mission to save myself from an unhappy arranged marriage soon turns into a battle to not lose my heart.
I dare him to walk away, but instead, he shows me any bridge can be crossed.
MY OPINION
'Lake' is the last book in 'Trinity Academy Series'. I was waiting for Lake's story because everything was so mystery in his life. Arranged marriage with Korean girl to have a investment. Michelle Heard effectively dosed us with information about Lake.
We only know that Cutler is a 'father' of the group. He is the oldest and the most responsible.
His future wife is a mystery. In 'Mason' we met her, but we only know that her name is Park Lee-Ann. Nothing more.
'Lake' starts when 'Mason' ends, so you need to read all of these books to know everything in this story. When finally we can read about Park Lee-Ann, we can see that she is a shy girl, raised in Korean traditions and she really want be a good wife for Lake, but she has a plan to destroy this deal between her father and Mr. Cutler.
I waiting for this book, because this is the end of story about Mason, Falcon and Lake. But now, when I ended it, I am a little bit disappointed. It is not, what I thought it will be.
This story doesn't have the strenght. In Mason's or Falcon's story we have so much hate-love, fights between heroes and intense lust. Lake's story is colorless.
Park Lee-Ann is a classic 'grey mouse'. She doesn't know how life is going and she is weak. I didn't like her. Lake is a lifebelt in this story, but his friends in this book are better than him.
All of them have come a long way together, they grew up and adulthood appeared on the horizon. I really liked this connection between them. Michelle Heard showed that real friendship always will be more important than everything other.
So, if you've read 'Mason' and 'Falcon' and you like these stories, you need to read 'Lake' to say goodbye with this heroes. But Michelle Heard promised that Julian (Falcon's brother) will have his story too and now I am waiting for it! I hope that he will be more raw than in 'Falcon' but in the end he will his happy ending too.
