„A Very Killer Christmas” by Layla Fae
BLURB
Police sirens ring louder while blood drips from my hands. I must hide, but it’s Christmas Eve, and all houses shine with colorful lights.
All but one.
Too late do I realize the house is not empty. A woman lives here alone, hidden in the dark and playing a game. I don’t kill innocents. It’s my only rule.
The woman doesn’t scream or try to call the police. Her big, green eyes take me in with curiosity, and not even the blood on my gloves makes her flinch. She sees me at my worst—and she doesn’t run.
“I’ve always wanted to meet a murderer,” she says. “Want some eggnog?”
MY OPINION
I picked up A Very Killer Christmas immediately after finishing A Very Stalker Christmas.
All I wanted was the same level of plot and writing. And you know what? I got exactly that!
In the second book of the Spicy Holiday series, we meet Rowley and Prudency. He’s just committed a crime, but things didn’t go as planned and the police were called. While running between houses, he ends up at an empty home. But it’s not really empty — it’s Prudency’s home. And that’s how they meet for the first time… along with her very first lie to the police when they come knocking.
A Very Killer Christmas is written with the same humor and fun as the first book. We have an outsider — Prudency, a girl who doesn’t like going outside — and a naughty man who falls for her first. When Rowley sees that she lied to the police for him, and then offers him a drink, he already knows that this girl will be his wife.
Like the first book, this one is short, so you can finish both in under two hours. They make a perfect little break from Christmas preparations. Even though both books include Christmas Eve, it’s subtle and not intrusive — which is great. As I mentioned in my review of the first book, I’m not a fan of typical holiday books; they’re usually too sweet for me.
Here, again, I found everything I wanted: a fun plot, spicy scenes, a hint of Christmas spirit, and very charismatic heroes.
This book is a cute romcom novella… with a killer twist. I can’t wait for November 2026 and the third book in the Spicy Holiday series.
